This page is intended to provide information about and pointers to selected Software Interface Standards. We use this term to refer to any standard which specifies an interface between two entities, at least one of which is likely to be software. Emphasis is on standards which may be of direct current use for developing portable software (including systems software). These may be formal or defacto standards, as long as they are reasonably widely used or at least potentially useful.
Nothing in these pages is intended to replace information available from the developers and suppliers of these standards directly. Links are provided to such primary sources wherever possible. Descriptions and comments are unofficial, and I am responsible for them.
A description page is available for many of the standards. In addition, several different indexes are provided.
